                  Banjo Paterson

What is the definition of a 'Good Australian'? Can you
tell him by the clothes he wears or the way he talks?Or
maybe it's just what he does that counts...

Andrew Barton Paterson, better known as Banjo Paterson,
is one of those people who did something to help Australia
develop it's identity. His works have inspired many and
are considered to be uniquely Australian. His most famous
poem, 'Waltzing Matilda', has been popularly suggested
as the nation's national anthem. And now, over 60 years
after his death, it is still regarded with affection.

His poems and ballads are a vision of the Australian
outback, life, hardships and how different we actually
are from the British. They are Australian and they have
shaped the nation's identity.
